With the introduction of Information and Communication Technology, the pedagogical process at the Higher Secondary Education level is getting a novel shape as the innovative teaching aids would invigorate the transactional methods. The learner – centred and integrated methods are being implemented with the use of free software.
The Ubuntu operating system, customized by IT@school(KITE) for academic activities at school is known as edu ubuntu. The ICT enabled instructional methods in Higher Secondary classes are completely based on edu ubuntu.
C++, SQL,PHP in Computer Science and Computer Application subjects, GNU-Khata, libre office in Accountancy subject are made available in such a way that it can be functional in edu-ubuntu operating system. Substantially, edu-ubuntu operating system has become an inevitable one for the successful transaction of academic activities in Higher Secondary class rooms.
These software tools in ISO file format and the necessary help file to facilitate the teachers and the students for a glorious outcome were prepared by Sri.Binu Kuriakose, HSST (Comp.Sc), GHSS, Puliyanam, Ernakulam.

GNU Khata 4.25 installation
GNU Khata accounting software for Higher Secondary School Commerce students is now available in the following link. You can install GNU Khata software with the help of the instructions given here.
Step 1: Right click on the downloaded file GNUKhata4.25_installer.tar.gz and select 'Extract here'.
Step 2: After extraction, check the newly created folder GNUKhata4.25_installer and double click on the file install.sh. select the Run in Terminal option.
Step 3: The system will ask the user to type system login password. Then accept the terms and press OK.
Step 4: After installation the GNU Khata software will appear on Application-> Office->GNU Khata
